Venezuelan Arepas Dinner

Back by popular demand, Artichoke is delighted to welcome Ruth Zanoni into our demonstration kitchen again for another evening of authentic Venezuelan recipes – la cocina venezolana. If you missed out on the delicious fun last time, now is your chance to learn about arepas – gluten-free, grilled bread from Venezuela.

Ruth will show a select group of students how to mix the arepa dough, grill the bread, and then stuff and serve the sandwiches. Students will learn how to prepare Ruth’s own modern adaptations of traditional fillings – both vegetarian (perico, spiced scrambled eggs) and meat (carne mechada, shredded beef prepared in the pressure cooker). Our guests will enjoy a selection of classic accompaniments that will round out the evening’s menu.

 Class begins on Saturday evening, January 28, at 6:30 and will last for about two hours. The store closes at 6:00pm so we can get everything ready for you; doors will open at 6:15. As with all of our events, this class will be BYOB. Bring bottles of your favorite vintages, and we will provide the glasses and the openers.
